When you see me in economy class, it doesn’t mean I’m humble. It means either business class was not available and I had to travel on that day or business class was crazily expensive at that period or the distance is short. I don’t need business class for a one hour trip.

Also, when I fly business, it’s not because I’m proud or because I want to impress. It’s simply for my comfort. When you can afford it, fly business. It will help your health especially if you are over 40, like me.

I do things for myself and not for others. When I don’t want to drive and there is no company driver available (I don’t have a personal driver), I take Uber. When there is no bottled water, I take “pure” water. It’s not humility. I just do things I’m comfortable with.

So you can catch me in an Uber today and tomorrow catch me in a 10 car convoy of tinted SUVs complete with fierce looking security personnel. Has nothing to do with pride or humility. I just do what makes me comfortable.

Today, you can catch me at Quilox sipping on my favourite cognac, Hennessy XO and tomorrow see me drinking Goldberg (my favourite beer) at a “normal” beer parlour. Don’t judge me with what you see me doing.

I’m not humble.

I’m not proud.

I’m just being Akin Alabi.

Today I’m at Old Trafford to see Man Utd vs Arsenal. Soon, you will see me at Adamasingba supporting my childhood club 3SC. I’m doing it for myself.

Just do what you love doing. Whatever you do, people will criticize. If no one is criticizing you, then you’re not doing anything.
