1. Interesting that Hatch would photoshop his face over that of Edward Rutledge, one of the less politically consequential delegates to the Continental Congress. Rutledge's claim to notoriety rests mostly on being the youngest of the delegates. Just saying.
2. Here's John Adams's 1774 description of Rutledge."Young Ned Rutledge is a perfect Bob o' Lincoln—a Swallow—a Sparrow—a Peacock—excessively vain, excessively weak, & excessively variable & unsteady—jejune, inane, and puerile." Just gonna let that stand. masshist.org/publications/a…
3. It is also fitting that Senator Hatch (who seems to have a generally tenuous grasp on reality these days) would mistake a painting completed in 1818--42 years after the event depicted--for an accurate representation. declaration.fas.harvard.edu/blog/trumbull
4. Also, more to Hatch's point, the Declaration of Independence was arguably an early instance of a text going viral in American History. They used the latest communication and transportation technology to disseminate it as quickly and widely as possible. psmag.com/news/how-the-d…
5. Yet again, one of America's great "conservatives" has shown themselves to know almost nothing about the history which they claim to respect.
6. Early American Historians are all channeling RBG right about now. [Picture taken from Hatch's current Twitter banner.]
