9/11 galvanized America against Muslims. That xenophobia and naked fear was easily weaponized and spread to other non-white immigrants. Corporate offshoring hollowed out industrial towns, leading to rage against jobs going to non-white Asia & Latin America.
The theft of the 2000 election by SCOTUS got us used to elections that could be snatched away. W's losing the popular vote got us used to a system where a militant right-wing minority could seize power within the system.
American demographics have been shifting for decades. But while the MSM media celebrated America's new diversity, the change poured gasoline on smoldering white anger. The Obama election pushed them over the edge.
The economy crashed in 2008, wiping out millions of families, and no one went to jail. Bush tax cuts w/2 wars made it worse. The Trump tax cuts have now made it necessary in the next few years to either raise taxes again, or slash spending so even basic services are unsustainable
Take all that, then add it to a sociopathic conniving unstable racist, & you have a country on the edge of a very very steep cliff. It's been a long time coming. At Xmas 2018, we're at the most dangerous point since Xmas 1860. Extremists are in control. Fighting back is our duty.
