we can't seriously talk about the "trumping" of toronto politics" as something recent. rob ford was elected mayor of this city in 2010. white supremacists have proudly been running in our municipal elections for decades. we have to stop describing this as some foreign contagion
in this piece KWT describes faith goldy as "an admirer of white supremacists who was running for mayor." umm, what? goldy is a white supremacist. why downplay her hatred? the piece gives us examples of U.S. racism, while downplaying the racists right here. this is not ok
also, it's awful that KWT and @nowtoronto refused to name jordan stone, the man who confronted KWT and prompted the piece. failure to name him will lead people to make racist and xenophobic assumptions about his identity, cause, as @idilatweets has said, that's how hatred works 
in the 2014 election, olivia chow was told "go back to china"; munira abukar's volunteers had garbage thrown at them, ausma malik was targeted with racism and islamophobia; mohammed uddin had racist vandalism on his signs. why is KWT acting brand new about toronto's racism?
outside her own experiences, KWT doesn't cite a single example of local racism in this piece. instead she makes reference to birtherism and pizzagate, both american phenomena. like, what about the hatred being spread by her opponent @G_Smitherman?
I feel like KWT missed an opportunity here to show solidarity with other people fighting hatred and bigotry in this city. and I feel like KWT missed that opportunity because she isn't well connected to that larger local fight
