Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (#TRAI) had issued a consultation paper for creating a regulatory framework for over-the-top communication services. Our comments are available here:

In our responses we've described why we believe that TRAI is not the right body to regulate OTT services, and the framework that is already in place to regulate services on the Internet.
We have discussed the fact that telecom services operate on a limited natural resource and face limited competition.
The deadline for submitting your comments has passed, but it is still possible to submit counter comments until 21 January 2019.

The conspiracy theory itself is insane. Pay TV services, like Foxtel, have been smashed everywhere by over-the-top streaming services like Netflix. They were enabled by broadband which was rolled out much faster and at less cost under my technology agnostic approach to NBN. 1/2
Labor’s approach would have taken 6-8 years longer to complete and would have cost upwards of $30 billion more - leading to even more expensive broadband. The streaming services that have disrupted the bundled Pay TV business model do not need 1 Gbps connections. 2/2
So in summary, by ensuring NBN is completed sooner and at lower cost, the disruption of Foxtel’s business model occurred sooner than it otherwise would have done.

The Airtel/K2 transaction is neither a merger nor acquisition. It's a brand endorsement arrangement, were K2 entered into agreement allowing @Airtel_Ug to use her Trademark, Brand name (K2 Telecom) & Resources to market @K2Telecom products & services to customers @UCC_Official
Under the Brand Endorsement Agreement, K2 customers will continue enjoying the same or similar services with a different code prefix (0708). The customer migration will be voluntary. Customers will exercise their contractual right to either move to Airtel or not.

I'm reading about the 2018 revision of world urbanisation prospects published by the UN.
India doesn't seem to be prepared for any of this. #UN predicts over 400 million more urban inhabitants in Indian cities by 2050, which is almost twice of what we have in 2018.
How are we going to make sure our cities excel in terms of infrastructure, pollution control, climate resiliency, housing, water, energy, waste management, employment, and crime control.

Let's say you live in an apartment, like millions of other urban dwellers. This means that you live in a city, and cities have excellent broadband coverage compared to rural areas.

So you should have a wide variety of ISPs to choose from. Right?

Not really.
The Bureau of Indian Standards has rules for how every building interacts with the essential utilities it needs from the outside world.

Water, sewage, electricity.

But these utilities are provided only by your municipality, and not by private operators, like the internet is.
