The Washington Post is reporting on an ISIS chemist that has confessed to trying to make chemical agents for the group, including successfully producing sulphur mustard.
Bellingcat has examined two sulphur mustard attacks by ISIS in 2016, the first in the town of Marea, north of Aleppo, where sulphur mustard filled mortar shells were fired at the town. bellingcat.com/news/mena/2016…
It was noted in that article that the deliver system used in a prior sulphur mustard attack in 2015 was a liquid filled artillery shell, as shown below.
The same design of sulphur mustard filled mortar shell was also used in a September 2016 attack in Umm Hosh bellingcat.com/news/mena/2016…
