I took out quotes from Trump’s rambling Super Bowl interview & posted in tweet string below, my notes in parentheses: “It's national emergency” (lie) “there have been plenty national emergencies called.” (lie) “This really is an invasion of our country.” (lie)
“the only way you have a strong border is you need a physical barrier.” (lie) “You need a wall.” (lie) Trump on Speaker Pelosi: “I think that she was very rigid.” (offensive) “I think she is very bad for our country.” (wrong) “She knows that you need a barrier.” (wrong)
Trump on Speaker Pelosi continued: “She knows that we need border security.” (true statement) “she wants open borders.” (lie) “She doesn't mind human trafficking.” (huge lie) “she's costing the country hundreds of billions of dollars.” (lie)
Trump on Speaker Pelosi continued: “you have people dying all over the country because of people like Nancy Pelosi.” (huge lie) Trump on percentage of ISIS defeated: “We're at 99 percent right now, we'll be at 100.” (another lie, he clearly made up this “statistic.”)
Trump on Afghanistan: “we're negotiating with the Taliban." He was then asked “Can you trust the Taliban?” (Trump deflected, didn’t answer) Then was asked if troops pull out couldn’t we “see a resurgence of groups like Al-Qaeda?” “We’ll come back if we have to,” he replied.
Trump on coming back to Afghanistan if he pulls troops out & there is a resurgence of groups like Al-Qaeda: ”We have very fast airplanes, we have very good cargo planes. We can come back very quickly & I'm not leaving.” (He contradicts himself in the same sentence. Such skill.)
Trump on Senate condemning withdrawing from Syria & Afghanistan: “I ran against 17 Republicans. This was a big part of what I was saying, and I won very easily.”
Then CBS journalist Margaret Brennan made this statement: “You also campaigned saying that President Obama made a big mistake by telegraphing his military moves. You're telegraphing your retreat.” Trump replied by saying: “I'm not telegraphing anything. No, no, no.”
Trump then says he’s keeping troops in Iraq. Brennan replies with: “You're keeping troops in Iraq because you want to be able to strike in Iran?” Trump replies by saying: “No, because I want to be able to watch Iran. All I want to do is be able to watch.”
When asked if he will trust intel he receives from US officials, Trump replied with: “I am going to trust the intelligence that I'm putting there, but I will say this: my intelligence people, if they said in fact that Iran is a wonderful kindergarten, I disagree with them 100%.”
Trump on trusting US intelligence officials: “I have intel people, but that doesn't mean I have to agree.“
Here is what is one of the most frightening quotes from Trump. When asked about have an acting AG, acting defense sec, acting chief of staff, acting interior secretary, Trump says: “It's OK. It's easier to make moves when they're acting.” (consolidating power like a dictator)
Trump on Mattis: “I wasn't happy with his service. I told him give me a letter.” Brennan replies: “He resigned.” Trump replies: “He resigned because I asked him to resign. He resigned because I was very nice to him ... I was not happy with the job he was doing in Afghanistan.”
Trump on NFL: “you can't be kneeling for the national anthem. You have to respect our flag and our country.” (He still doesn’t get it. He never will.)
Trump: “The African-Americans have the best employment numbers in the history of our country.“ (sounds racist as hell to me)
Brennan moves on: “What surprised you about some of the questions that Robert Mueller asked you?” Trump replies by lying three times: “Well, look the Russia thing is a hoax. I have been tougher on Russia than any president, maybe ever. But than any president.” (3 lies in a row)
Brennan pushes back on Trump Calling Russia probe a hoax: “34 people have been charged here. Seven guilty pleas.” Trump replies: “Excuse me. Ok, you ready? Ok, you ready? Of the 34 people, many of them were bloggers from Moscow or they were people that had nothing to do with me.”
Trump: “had nothing to do with what they're talking about or there were people that got caught telling a fib or telling a lie. I think it's a terrible thing that's happened to this country because this investigation is a witch hunt. It's a terrible witch hunt & it's a disgrace”🥴
Trump on Stone: “Stone didn't work on the campaign (lie) except way way at the beginning long before we're talking about.” (Trump lies, then admits Stone worked on campaign) More:“I don't know if you know this or not-Roger wasn't on my campaign except way at the beginning” (liar)
Trump then goes on to tell one of the biggest lies in the entire interview: “Remember this. Remember this. There's been no president that has been tougher on Russia than Donald Trump.” That is a lie. Trump is the weakest president ever on Russia. By far. No close 2nd. Period.
Then Trump lies acting like the Mueller Report exists and it already exonerates him: “Even the Mueller report said it had nothing to do with the campaign.”
Trump replies to if Mueller report should be public: “That's up to the AG. I don't know. It depends. I have no idea what it's going to say.” Trump would only want it public if the report said four words: Donald Trump is innocent. Otherwise, he will try to bury Mueller’s report.
Trump rambles more on Mueller’s probe: “So far this thing's been a total witch hunt. And it doesn't implicate me in any way. There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. There was no nothing. Doesn't implicate me in any way but I think it's a disgrace.” Trump’s the disgrace.
Trump on using US military force in Venezuela: “it's something that's on the- it's an option.”
Trump on Kim Jong Un: “I like him. I get along with him great. We have a fantastic chemistry. We have had tremendous correspondence that some people have seen and can't even believe it.” Gross. Trump only gets along with the worst people.
