Italian Ministry of Economic Development denies Huawei and ZTE 5G ban reported by La Stampa (which claims reports come from sources within Ministry of Defence and Foreign Affairs), says that "criticalities" have not yet emerged. Only then would restore to use of Golden Powers.

An October 2017 Decree amended Golden Powers to 1) extend the list of critical sectors to include among others critical or sensitive infrastructures, critical technologies, network security and 2) add to take into consideration if foreign investor is government-controlled.
