1. Knowing how Russia now operates, I recall an experience I had in 2006 at the NBA All Star game.
I shared a ride with 2 Russians to the game and wanted to talk about the Yukos owner Khodorovsky who was jailed by Putin. Khodorovsky was then the richest man in Russia.

2. Although I was horrified and troubled that this might be anti-Semitism, the Russians assured me that Khodorovsky had it coming. Because he did not do what Putin wanted. This was considered to be perfectly appropriate to these Russians. They even laughed about it.
3. This is the type of society that Putin has succeeded in building. There is no rule of law. Only the law of Putin.
