It’s #CrowOrNo day!!! This week’s rather ~moody~ challenge comes from @CocktailMD. What did they see during their special trip? Looking forward to your answers!
NICELY DONE, TWITTER! Today’s #CrowOrNo contestant is most definitely a very wet raven. Mary Berry would likely not approve.
So what were the secrets this week? Although the wet feathers throw the texture a little, the hackles are still quite evident. And even at this angle the size and shape of the bill screams raven.
So thank you to @CocktailMD for the great challenge and thanks to everyone that played!

Question for fellow scientists & grade-school teachers. My goal is to make science accessible. That said, I always feel a little unsure when young students send me emails for homework/project help. What's the line between doing their work for them and being a helpful mentor?
For example, an elementary schooler if they ask you to define or explain a term that could otherwise be easily googled or researched on Wikipedia. Do you help them find the resources or, are you the resource they found and explain it to them?
Obviously, there's no right answer here and everyone will have different philosophies. I'm just trying to get a sense of where that line is for others so that I can more confidently form my own.

Not a crow! Not even a corvid! And so many of you got this question ~currawright~ that I think I might need to up my game. Like last week the trick was nasal bristles and can I say that I LOVE when you point these things out in your answers because I 100% do.

Well if I thought there was ani chance of fooling you I was sure wrong! Most everyone nailed this week’s challenge. These are neither crows nor corvids, they’re smooth-billed anis!
I captured this pair while on a trip to Costa Rice last year. The best tell that it’s not a corvid is (as may of you pointed out 🥰) the lack of nasal bristles! The long tail is also a good indicator because none of the Corvus sps have extra long tails, though many corvids do.

I’m half way my trip to the Anglo-Australian Telescope @scienceANU at @SidingSpring.After 7 months & suffering the Guillain-Barré Syndrome in July, now ~98% recovered, I’m really looking forward combining supporting telescope observations & stargazing.I’ll need many more of these
You don’t know how much time I’ve waited to see this again!
Last night I didn’t have much time to tweet or share my excitement. After needing less than 5 min to get a very good polar alignment with my small telescope I took some few astrophotos... but I’ve forgotten the timelapse cable at home (ahhh!!) & have to take every shot by hand!

✝️THREAD⛪️Ready for church? Makes me happy that many of you look forward to my Sunday threads. Before we begin, I sang a song for you. This is how I feel when you support me, when we share our fears, when we encourage each other. (I'll number tweets, last one will say end thread)
2) Pastor delivered a beautiful sermon, one of my favorites ever. He led us in prayer. "God you are all that is, was, and forever shall be- Help us not to fear"
The sermon was then based on the "last days", and the fears that people have when it feels like the world is ending.
3) He said that people tell him, "These are the signs of the times, we are living in the last days" He said, "I hear this more and more...and I tell them 'ALL the days are the end days, because when I go to bed at night, a day has ended.'" They do not seem satisfied with that...

1: Once upon a time in the late 90s, there were common websites, basic cable and magazines that put out various hotlines you could call in a crisis. If not, there were search engines where you could find the numbers to places like BoysTown and the Suicide Prevention Hotline etc.
2: My parents were SUPER controlling. So much so, that we felt the control in every little way, and suspected other means of control that we did not verify until we had all moved out.

I'm actually looking forward to the December 18th purge of Twitter.
Here is my reasoning.
As we all know, @Twitter, @Jack, and the like are going to purge the wrong thinkers for every little reason, thereby making Twitter totally left controlled.

However.
As we have seen constantly, the left are
A: Getting away with calls for genocide
B: Calls for violence
C: Calls for terrorist acts
D: Etc.

And it is only escalating at an exponential rate, with more left getting more and more bold and brash with such messages.
