To my followers: In the last 24 hours, it's been said that I am much harder on the PM & his crew than I am on @AndrewScheer & some of his pals. I have said that if I were running the Scheer show I wouldn't have put him into that YELLOW vested shit show that hijacked a critical
issue-the need for pipelines to unlock opportunities in an industry that's bleeding. My respect for resource families is immense and if they received even 1% as much affection from #Trudeau's PMO & Privy Council as #SNCLavalin lobbyists do, we wouldn't need Truck drivers to
roll up Parliament Hill. The rhetoric from a Conservative Senator was sloppily stupid and so he got nailed as he should have. But most important, Andrew Scheer never called out elements of that demonstration which continue to injure the cause & the country. You cannot be
taken seriously as the leader of a great country when you pretend not to see what you do see & not to have empathy for the targets of Yellow Vest hatred. I'm hoping Scheer develops the moral strength to do that. But this week he missed a golden opportunity to be a moral leader.
I was a teenager in Montreal, when our eyes were glued on the Prime Minister of the day who sat in a reviewing stand at a parade where extremists threw bottles at the VIPs in that stand. All the VIPs scattered except for 1. The PM faced down those who wanted to tear Canada down.
I was too young to vote at the time. But I had zero doubt the man who stood his ground and stood up for Canada, was going to have my vote as soon I was eligible to give it to him. His name was Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Everyone knows my feelings for his progeny are not the same.
But my feelings for our country are far deeper today than they were to that 14 yr old boy. I don't doubt Andrew Scheer's patriotism. But this wk when he had the chance to stand up for our very best values, he chose to play it too close to the VEST.
Instead of being a national leader he remained a meager partisan pol. I am hoping he has it in him to become stronger for our country at a time when we have a serious character deficit at the top. To Andrew Scheer: Sir, your key opponent in Canadian politics is not #PMTrudeau
He's doing a masterful job of defeating himself. Your opponent is the gang of mosquitoes buzzing around your head. They add nothing of value to Canada. They're small & nasty. All they live for is drawing blood. This is a majestic country- so much larger than pests & partisans.
So please lose the nuisances that get in the way of seeing the best in Canadians, all of us-everywhere. Climb into the cab of a real truck and drive coast to coast and let people know what you're for and what you're against. You don't have to use the words Liberal or Trudeau.
Focus on Canada & Canadians & equality of economic opportunity in every corner of our country.We can become so much stronger & more prosperous. The only thing keeping us down is political leadership from all parties focused exclusively on division & derision.Good luck Mr Scheer.
