Chris Williamson, the seemingly untouchable Corbyn ally, is filmed here saying Labour has been “too apologetic” over antisemitism

Here is a test, because only an institutionally antisemitic institution could let this stand without sanction
Remember, Labour swiftly launched disciplinary processes against 2 MPs who were critical of the leadership’s stance on antisemitism
Corbyn himself should condemn this swiftly and uncategorically. Not an anonymous ‘Labour spokesperson’. Too long has his silence signalled assent in these situations.

I’m not holding my breath

This article is very good on the deep roots of antisemitism on the part of the left most identified with the Corbyn movement - very much from the perspective of the left. Recommended.
It is interesting and somewhat encouraging to see commentators from within the movement showing some measure of self-awareness and at least considering whether this is more serious than they had given credit for.

But...
... it is still along the lines of 'pockets of antisemitism' and 'a small minority of Labour supporters' and there isn't much/any consideration of (1) whether there may be something rotten deep in the ideology, and (2) the true impact of Corbyn's actions and lack of insight

I see left commentators doing threads and I want to feel appreciative, and somehow I don't, and wonder if I have become cynical. These things get said, but nothing seems to change.

@lucianaberger resigned - perhaps that broke a dam, or perhaps that means it's too late?
A sensible colleague pointed out to me today that I have done a succession of v difficult cases (traumatic content) and I wonder if I am reaching a point where my reserves of empathy are too depleted to think clearly on it. I kind of hope so, in a way, as I want to be optimistic
Anyway, it's something that Chris Williamson has been suspended. My fear is that there is still so long to go.

1/ I hope that now Chris Williamson has been suspended my detailed evidenced complaint of his conduct -which has been in @JennieGenSec hands for 6 months- does not get chucked out. After all, saying Labour’s been “too apologetic” about antisemitism absolutely pales in comparison
2/ in this letter I alsoexplained very clearly why I believe “the treatment of a number of recent complaints against Mr Williamson in this way suggest an institutional decision that all complaints against Mr Williamson shall go no further.”
3/ I also experienced how (much like with Williamson’s suspension yesterday) the party seems to only take action or comment on complaints against Williamson when there is significant public/media pressure. Without this I don’t think they care - and that’s not “zero tolerance”.

Despite all the evidence, there are those who still deny the severity of #LabourAntisemitism. Here's a thread detailing how institutionalised it truly is...
Starting at the very top with @JeremyCorbyn.

He infamously referred to #Hamas and #Hezbollah as "friends". Both organisations call for the extermination of #Israel, and regularly carry out attacks against #Jews. They're also both officially classified as #terrorist groups.
Perhaps the most well-known incident is #Corbyn's attendance at a wreath-laying ceremony in Tunisia in 2014, which honoured the terrorists who murdered 11 #Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Mr Corbyn claimed to be "present but not involved".

Labour has just failed a key test of its sincerity in addressing antisemitism. It is now clear that the party has no intention of implementing the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism.

Asa Winstanley's piece about "fake Labour accounts" that push #antisemitism to discredit the party has been widely shared. I don't doubt that goes on and state actors are most likely involved, but Asa's article seems to be a big hit with people who actually do hold a/s views. /1
These people, many Labour members, seem oblivious to the irony of blaming anonymous trolls, presumably acting on behalf of Israel or the Tories, for spreading antisemitic poison that they themselves regularly promote. One such character is Charles Chiverton of Mansfield CLP. /2
Like his fellow Mansfield CLP comrades Jeff Bowler and Roland Laycock, whose antisemitism I highlighted yesterday, Charles Chiverton believes the concerns about antisemitism in the Labour Party are largely a smear campaign to undermine pro-Corbyn and pro-Palestinian activists. /3

In my Guardian article yesterday I claimed that Corbyn and his team want to rewrite @TheIHRA definition on #antisemitism to neuter @UKLabour's own rule against antisemitism. This is key to understanding what they are trying to do and I'll explain it a bit more here /1
If a party member is disciplined for antisemitism it is always under the rule against conduct that is "prejudicial, or... grossly detrimental to the party." This used to be at the discretion of the NEC /2
This changed last September when party conference made the expression of antisemitism and other prejudice an automatic offence. The old rule is on the left, new rule on the right /3

It's reblogged by several pro-Corbyn sites - inc The Canary, Evolve, who also a quote a 9/11 Truther. /2
The appetite for defending Corbyn is so feverish that Murray's piece goes viral. Even being linked to in The Guardian where he is described serenely as a "former ambassador."

But his piece, now followed up by more, is consistently encouraging readers to look at Israel... 3/
