Enough people have asked me what happened with the Mueller Report and Barr’s Summary that I should just put it all in one place. These are the most likely scenarios as I see them. 1/
Mueller’s Report extensively details circumstantial evidence regarding collusion and obstruction but not enough to prosecute. The Trump Ring didn’t budge in terms of rolling, but the information is a PR nightmare and leaves much doubt, thus a cherrypicked summary. 2/
Or, maybe the report details all the rumors and innenuendo and the Trump Administration doesn’t even want to chance starting anything new and thus put out a cherrypicked, overly condensed summary. 3/
Another possibility is that the report all but exonerates Trump of collusion but shows an effort to obstruct, which is a problem in and of itself and is being avoided. Guessing the summary is a hailmary then to try and avoid the fallout. 4/
Again, maybe everything is on the up and up, but this administration has lied and lied and lied about everything from crowd sizes to Russian contacts. It’s healthy and necessary to have skepticism and want transparency here and not just regurgitate talking points. 5/
What I’m noticing is that the people pushing this as an overblown hoax are the ones who missed out on and criticized reports of Russian interference in the first place. They have a reason to want this to go away and a cognitive bias. Just. Saying. 6/
And for the record, I would love to read a report that tells me we’re not living in a compromised political system with a criminal president. Would love to believe that. But I’ve seen enough to be healthily skeptical. 7/7
