Wow. Interesting poll numbers collected since the release of the Barr memo.

They are quite bad for Trump IMHO. Worse than I would have thought...

Punchline: Barr’s whitewash appears to have not cleared the dark cloud looming over Trump one bit.

The numbers generally track to Trump’s overall approval numbers.

40-43% of people:
- view Trump favorably
- think he was cleared
- think we should be done here

That’s bad for Trump. Looks a whole lot like Barr’s memo was a dud.

The memo “clearing him” didn’t clear him.

Worse still, it appears to have netted to a complete swing and miss on improving his standing going forward.

I guarantee Trump fully believed his popularity would get a big boost from all of this.

Man, he is going to be irate.

As a narcissist, Trump is pathologically programmed to depersonalize his own unpopularity.

“It isn’t my fault. It’s the media and Mueller and the witch hunt. When I’m cleared, I’ll finally get the love and admiration I deserve!”

Man, Trump is going to fume... and then rage.

p.s. I’ve been saying from the jump that Trump won’t pardon anyone right now. Narcs don’t pay their tabs after they’ve eaten.

Further, these numbers make pardons even less likely. In his mind, people in prison validates how unfairly they’ve all been treated - including him.

If Trump doles our pardons, the beneficiary gets a reprieve from unfair punishment while, in Trump’s mind, he’s being unfairly punished in public opinion.

In his head, he’d be the only guy still getting punished. He won’t put himself in that position.
