------------
Look at this

"Dear Sir,

How are you today?
Happy new month.
My name is Ejekuru Isiawo and I am a copywriter.

I'll appreciate if I can work with you and show you what I can do.

I look forward to a reply from you.

Thank you.

Ejekuru Isiawo."

Does this look familiar to you? Or does this look like what you do?

Imagine you received this letter from a complete stranger
what would be your reaction?

Ctrl+Del right?

In this thread, we'll look at a fee important things to consider before ever sending a cold mail.

But first, what is a cold mail?

A cold mail is a message(mail) sent to someone who is not expecting it. In other words,
it is unsolicited. And this receiver does not know you.

Ignoring this simple fact will ensure that your mails will never get read.
But when you understand this, it will help you craft the right strategy.

How then do you go about cold mailing companies?
The first thing to do is to

RESEARCH YOUR PROSPECT.

Many people fail this step. But you shouldn't. You shouldn't be many people. You should be smart.

Research your prospect. The research will give you vital information that can help you connect with them.
This could be as simple as finding out what project they are currently on, what product that is doing well, what product is performing badly, etc.

This info can come in handy in your mail.

Another advantage is, it helps you clearly tell these people what you can do for them
2. Use a catchy subject line.

How many emails do you get daily? Several.
How many do you open daily? Fewer.

Which ones do you open? The ones that pique your interest or pinch your curiousity.

Correct me if I AM RIGHT.

See, the clients you write to
also receive multiple emails everyday, and because they are not expecting any message from you, they don't have any interest in you or your message.

But with your headline, you can pull their interest and make them read your mail.

I'll do another thread on this alone.
3. Connect.

Now we are in your mail. You have succeeded in getting this person to open your mail, now what?

Don't sell anything!

Nobody cares that you are a copywriter, except your name is already adored in the marketing circle.

But even at that, nobody cares.
People only care about their problems and interest, so you should start off with something that will interest them.

And it varies from customer to customer.

Remember the research you did? This is where you use the information you gathered.

'Hello Judith,

I came across your
(product) on (platform) and I must say it was (feeling).

But I also noticed that the (problem) was (problem)

And this is actually (result of problem to Judith (Eg making her lose customers))

Remember you have not even told them who you are. You just connect with her interest
4. State how you can help solve this and the result it will bring to them.

Be clear. More money? More customers? Better visibility? Stronger positioning? (Keep it simple. Even the word positioning is ambiguous).

5. Put a call to action.

'If you'll be interested in
Learning more about this (product) that can completely (result) you can fix up a convenient time (this week) when we can have further discussions.

Note: convenient time=loose time

This week= tight time (specific)

5. Follow up.

This works well. You simply add:
I'll be sending a follow up message tomorrow just to serve as a reminder.

6. Close with your contact details.

7. Your follow up email.

This is where you get creative.

Your subject line may read:

'I promised you this!'

There is no hard and fast rule to this.
There is no one size fits all.

You just have to be creative and find what works.

But the most important thing first is research.

Get that right and you already have half the work done.

But I must say this:

Rejection is part of the game. Sometimes you may follow all the rules
And still not hit pay.

But as you persist and get better, you will see results eventually.

Like my buddy @HQawiyy would say:

"They say NO because they don't KNOW!"

Don't give up.

Starting tonight, I'll be taking some amazing people on the journey of Copywriting
Persuasion and sales.

I will show some of my pitching scripts and how I have closed some clients.

Call it an insider scoop.

2019 is still the year.
