Once again, the Peter Kyle Option (Confirmatory Referendum) got the most votes. Even more than last time. Although it was defeated by only the second smallest majority.

I'm loving these people saying we lost, as if People's Vote didn't just secure more votes than any other Brexit option put before Parliament.
(Other than the third meaningful vote, but that lost by a majority of 58 whereas PV lost by 12)

If you're bored of Brexit, you don't want us negotiating the actual trade deal with the EU for the next 5+ years.
You want a referendum this year so we can move on to other things.
I'll be blunt: No Deal isn't an option. We have no right to trash the Good Friday Agreement like that. So it will (in my view) be between a deal which will remove rather than add sovereignty or EU membership.
While I'm confident we'd reject the deal, if we don't, that's on us.
To those of you saying "But we voted to take back control. The only Brexit option can't be one that means less control".
In a globalised world, one country's power is always balanced against another. We sought to shift the balance in our favour by picking a fight with 27 allies!

I just want to make this thread, because you've seen the "who funds you" trolling on all my tweets and I know it will continue into the People's Vote campaign when it happens. The whole point of it is to suggest that my words are motivated by financial interest, not civic duty.
It's really important for them to question our motives at @OFOCBrexit, because they know why we're dangerous:
The UK has a crisis of faith in politicians and business experts because people don't trust their motives. Whereas young people fighting for their own futures is pure.
The best way to be sure whether I do this for financial reasons or because I feel morally obligated to, is to look at what I did before we started getting support from all of you.
i.e. Which came first: The campaigning or the funding?

The UK exports half of the fish it catches. 2/3 of that goes to EU countries with zero tariffs.

No Deal puts the UK outside of the EU's Common Extermsl tariff, which means (other than for mackerel) UK fishers will face tariffs of 9-23% selling to their main market.

Last week MPs debated alternatives to the Prime Minister’s #Brexit plan.

This happened because MPs backed an idea by Conservative MP & former Minister, Sir Oliver Letwin, to give control of Commons business to backbench MPs so they could put forward their visions for #Brexit
Parliamentary procedure is full of quirks, but giving backbench MPs control of the Commons in this way isn’t the norm.

MPs chose to disapply a Commons rule - Standing Order 14(1) - which says that the Government usually (largely) controls what business is debated in the House.

One very indicative vote last night was the 105 MPs who opposed the statutory instrument shifting Brexit day in line with agreed A50 extension... 1/
The extension is settled, a done deal, so SI should have been formality. Only effect of defeating it would have been... 2/
Putting UK in weird legal limbo where EU applies but UK law has its fingers in its ears and refuses to listen and ends up in breach of its treaty obligations... 3/

Even more gold from @BESResearch -- while I do think that online opinion polls are generally extremely problematic due to the likely significant selection bias that it introduces, there is still some signal in the data that tells us about the nature of #leave support in 2016.
Waves 7/8 asked participants what they expect how the EU referendum is going to pan out... i.e. it asked what probability respondents attach to a #Leave vote, some subsequent waves ask whether people regret how they vote.
20 - 30% of respondents stated the probability of a #Leave success is less than 40%. Now, the nice thing is the BES also subsequently asked, how people voted and whether they regret how they voted -- it asks whether people are #remainernow

As a @UNC alumnus, let me say once again that Silent Sam isn't worth a penny to preserve. It's long last time to tear it down.
@UNC There's no mistaking Silent Sam's origins in the Jim Crow era campaign to promote white supremacy.
While its origins were deeply racist, for most modern students the statue represents a lame "joke" about student sexual activity. (The statue will fire his rifle when a virgin walks past, campus tours used to note, but he's been silent for decades. Yuk yuk.)
