1/ I don't know the former Clinton/Obama lawyer, and from the company he keeps (the aforementioned + Ukrainian thugs and probably other miscreants) he is shady as hell, but I have mixed feelings about the continued use in this Mueller investigation denouement of process crimes...
2/ to selectively punish people for things that most others get away with scot-free. It's clear that Greg Craig only came under scrutiny because this 2012 Ukraine hit piece work at Skadden was brokered by Paul Manafort, who later had the bad fortune to work for candidate Trump--
3/ ... and if anything this prosecution which has made the rounds of Mueller team, SDNY (which apparently passed on it) and then DC USA office, looks to me like an attempt to make the witchhunt against Trump associates for process crimes look more even-handed. Now smug liberals
4/ in pundit-land can say see? It wasn't a witch hunt -- we hunted and bagged ourselves a liberal lawyer too! But what about the FARA violators all over town who aren't being indicted because they weren't caught up in the Mueller briar patch? Both parties abound with ...
5/ beltway insiders paid by foreign governments to slide tidbits to either their deep state/swamp buddies and their media lapdogs who eagerly pounce on any gossip/slander thrown to them by a "connected" person. The media loves these foreign agents as they produce so much "news"--
6/ so yeah, cheer momentarily if you are a partisan, at the selective prosecution of your elderly political enemies for process crimes, but remember that if they can be singled out and made an example of, so can any of us. @CrimeADay reminds us how frequently we all transgress.
