Thread: It's an issue so big, we have to try to make sure all our relations are aware. I don't know how many people are understanding truly what Trudeau's Indigenous Rights Framework is. ...2/

#NativeTwitter #Indigenous #cdnpoli
2/... This is what previous Indig leadership had been fighing against for decades. There are so many Chiefs signing onto this for their people. I don't understand how they can do this if they honestly understand what that paper means for all of their generations to follow. ...3/
3/...That Framework offers a lot of money today - big words about 'self-determination' and privatizing reserves for "self-generating revenue". That's community property now, as was once all of what's Canada now, what's now called "Crown lands". ...4/
4/... The people who live on reserves will have to pay taxes to keep their houses. If they can't pay the taxes, the band can then sell the houses to anyone who has the money to buy it. "Anyone". This is how Canadian developers will get the last of Indig. lands. ...5/
5... This is how Canada finally gets rid of its "Indian problem" and breaks the original treaties for good. This is the final solution by 'paper'. ...6/
6. We will no longer have our world-recognized nation to nation rights for good. Every reserve will be less than a provincial municipality.

Every C & C must be questioned as to why they're signing onto this b/c they are throwing away every tie we have to these lands ...7/
7. Some people are saying this is part of the reason Jody Wilson-Raybould was moved, because she was fighting this. I don't know if this is true, but a lot of our Indigenous lawyers & scholars are speaking against this Framework because of what it does. ...8/
8. Canada is trying to get away with not paying the huge debt it owes us. Remember the original treaties - they are about sharing not ceding. They are to be honoured, not stripped. CDNs & #cdnpoli have to learn what is honour, but we needn't be begging for Cda's scraps. …9/
9. Here's an example of how it works: The people on this reserve losing homes, no more funding transfers from the "Indigenous Trust funds" to suffice home ownership so now taxes are expected from the residents of reserves.

10. I'm more than aware of how much of a corner FN leadership has been pushed into by the chronic underfunding #cdnpoli employs in their carrot & stick approach to bringing the Indigenous to heel, but this is the point CDA has been waiting for to take all our legacies. Stop this.
11. The great fight underway in #cdnpoli will leave this issue mostly ignored, but when people damn the Indigenous for not stumping for their guy in the #LPC or #CPC, know that both parties implemented this despicable policy. They only dressed its title & taglines differently.
