These maps are really great. They also show why it's good to avoid describing whole cities or counties as 'Leave' or 'Remain' - most places were pretty close, and if you arbitrarily tweak one boundary in the suburbs you can flip it. HT @undertheraedar

Here's a good example. Stroud and Cotswold were slightly Remain, Wilshire and South Gloucestershire slightly Leave. But all were 45-55 or narrower - pretty much half and half. Conventional maps can make Britain seem a lot more divided than it really is.
There really aren't that many places that are overwhelmingly one or the other - but those places are generally pro-Remain..
The Leaviest places aren't as Leavey as the Remainiest places are Remainey. The Leaviest places are also less populated. So slightly counter-intuitively, there are a lot of Remainers who don't encounter many Leavers- but not so many vice versa! Which @JamesKanag has written about
Important point - a quarter of the population is a lot! This is also a really big difference with the USA. A LOT of Americans live in parts of cities that are 90%+ Democrat. Republican bubbles slightly less extreme but still way more concentrated than UK.
Have a play with this map and scroll around New York or DC. Loads of precincts went ~95%~ Clinton. Scroll around the south and loads of places are 85%+ Trump. Britain just isn't as divided as this!

Once again a link to the maps, which are great, and @undertheraedar who made them

"Birmingham voted Leave". True, but if local government officials in the 1970s had decided to put Sheldon ward with Solihull instead, we'd all be saying "Birmingham voted Remain".
