So I want to put the Green Bay “execute the baby” Trump comments into a little context since I’m seeing the right complain about us worried that these words will get people killed. Let’s talk about the history of clinic violence in Wisconsin
Wisconsin was one of the epicenters of violence during the rescue movement in the 1980's. To the point where when Prolife Action Network hosted its annual meeting in Appleton, "Have a Blast!" was considered a "joke" latimes.com/archives/la-xp… 
It was also the birthplace of Matt Trewella's "Missionaries to the Preborn" (Joe Foreman had a branch, too). Trewella's group still exists, and Trewella is full on biblical militia, as well as a supporter of justifiable homicide. prochoiceactionnetwork-canada.org/articles/antit…
This isn't all just "past" violence, either. In 2012, a clinic in Grande Chute was bombed with an incendiary device. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2012…
This was one year after a man come to Madison with the express intent of killing an abortion doctor. He was arrested because his gun went off in his hotel room, first. nbc15.com/home/headlines… Where was he arrested? Green Bay. adl.org/news/article/a…
Just the threat of violence has a devastating effect, closing clinics that can't keep up with the additional security requirements needed to keep staff & patients safe from those who are egged into actions by words like those said in Green Bay motherjones.com/politics/2016/…
So the President's remarks were a a dangerous, incendiary lie. But considering where he was speaking, it was even worse, because there is quite a history of violence already occurring in that area. These are the things we need to know.
