Slayton as Lone-X into the boun gets squeezed after his outside release by Baker whos physicality at the top of routes really frustrated him. DS does not sink his hips/create separation at the top of the Comeback, and Baker plays through catchpoint #GiantsPride
DS’s releases improved from ‘17 to ‘18, flashing a solid Single Move Release getting Baker to open his hips early. He then smoothly cuts underneath the DB’s near hip on the Slant finishing with a nice stab #GiantsPride
However, most of DS’s releases are accompanied by a back leg false step, that delays him from winning early. When good DBs like Baker feature off hand jams they often derail any chance for separation. In small spaces efficiency really matters #GiantsPride
DS adds a foot fire to this inside release following it with a hand wipe to Baker’s contact helping him lose balance. Overall, DS’s movement efficiency needs improvement, but his hands are capable w/more work #GiantsPride
DS outside releases from the slot and attempts a Speed Cut (?) where Baker collisions/gets grabby for penalty. Baker will to adjust to NFL rules, but would rather have a player coaches have to reign in vs ramp up #GiantsPride
Slayton was held to 1 catch this game, a lot of that bc of Baker. The reps above highlight some strengths/weaknesses of both players. Think Slayton is raw but has the speed & frame to threaten vertically #GiantsPride
Think his route tree needs to evolve slowly, w/improvements vs. Press, ball tracking, competing at the catch point, and movement efficiency. Do think that Latimer’s presence can really help his development #GiantsPride
