@CNN has been discussing congress and the Clinton impeachment and Starr report.
Comparing hypocrisy of Dems getting rid of the independent council statute and replacing with the OSC and new regulations that Mueller had to work under. Here’s the reality in my opinion.

2)This political partisanship has been practiced by both party’s to the detriment of the people of this country & transparency in government.
Both party’s are guilty of it, although there are differences in the predicates for investigations & outcomes.

3)For those of us old enough to understand politics of the last several decades, there is more clarity and knowledge of the events that led to all of this. The independent council for Clinton started over a land deal White Water in which the Clinton’s were not guilty of a crime.

4)The white water investigation morphed into the Lewinsky scandal & resulted in the President lying about an affair, he was impeached for that lie and perjury under oath.
The Senate did not convict him, some Republicans joined Dems to not convict Clinton.

5)The Starr Report which the Dems did not want made public was made public anyway. The report contained salacious embarrassing details for all involved. This led to the knee jerk reaction by Dems to change the process and create OSC & it’s regulations that went too far other way.

6)Now the Dems want exactly what they didn’t want with Clinton full disclosure & transparency. The Mueller probe is far more serious than the Starr probe ever was. The Dems bound their own hands by overreacting to Starr period. You can’t have it both ways!

7)The bottom line is this government as a whole needs to own their deeds, Dems need to admit they created their dilemma by regulations that put a political appointee in charge of reports via OSC regulations.
Regardless of party any elected including POTUS is not above the law!

8)Transparency in government is critical, hiding information and protecting elected officials from public scrutiny is WRONG!
It’s always been wrong and always will be wrong.
It’s the 21st century and it all needs to stop period!
No what aboutism anymore just stop 🛑

9)Where has it all landed?
The abuses of power, trampling of our constitution under this president are staggering and unprecedented!
This is the final straw of how badly our democratic norms and rules and laws can be abused!
Both party’s must stand up for right verses wrong now!

10)Democrats may have tried to save Clinton’s presidency but not one condoned his lie, his affair in office or made excuses for the behavior.
They & some Republicans simply did not think it rose to a high crime or misdemeanor bc of the subject matter being personal behavior.

11)Many Republicans including Mitch McConnell & Lindsey Graham demanded it was impeachable & Clinton should have been removed to cleanse the office. Don’t forget Newt Gingrich who at the time was judging while also having his own affair! That is Republicans hypocrisy!

12)Now more than ever since Trump has done all these things except lie under oath bc he refused to go under oath, and Republicans have thrown any sense of ethics out the window, it’s critical to demand NOT moral judgement BUT ethical judgement on this government!

13)Ethics is different than personal morality. Personal morality is a matter of individual liberty and not to be legislated or set by government. Ethics is what should keep government honest, transparent and truthful!
Many of Trumps deeds deal with personal morality affairs etc.

14)Many more of Trumps deeds are ethical breaches that undermine the rule of law, violate the constitution, and obliterate the trust of Americans! Pathological lying to the public is inexcusable, covering up lies and campaign finance violations are too. Lying & cheating is WRONG!

15)Trump is the catalyst for major reforms in government ethics that all Americans should be demanding that hold both party’s accountable moving forward regardless who is in the majority!
Americans deserve open fair elections decided by direct democracy not electoral college!

16)All the political wrangling & rule changing to benefit a party in power especially when it defies popular will of the people is wrong! Injecting personal ideology into government violates liberty, it all has to end & the constitution respected or our democracy has failed!
