(that Trump had previously discussed on camera and wrote a book about).
Ah. We finally got there. How did Trump stay afloat financially 20 years before he ran for President? Were “foreign banks involved?” You know, like RUSSIANS!!
Or, maybe he sold some properties...

The media's bias knows no ends. Trump's mid 90s $900m problem was no secret. He proclaimed it during the intro to The Apprentice and he also discussed it with Rosanne Barr on her show. It was written about during his campaign in 2016, a year after he came down the escalator.
Why is it important now? Its either being used to label Trump as the "biggest loser," or- like on today's Morning Joe- its being used to question just how he got himself out of this mess.
Well, what would I do if I were upside down on real estate? I'd probably sell something and try to make the best deal I could.

This is why Trump should not release his tax information. Realizing tax losses and using them to offset future income is a prudent tax strategy every tax payer should explore. Yet the media does not seem to connect the dots, only attempt to paint Trump as bumbler.
What's even more important is what is NOT being reported by the Times:

1. There is no indication that there was any involvement with Russians or any other foreign power.

2. There's no reason to believe any of his income or assets would influence the Emoluments Clause.
What's also not being reported is the extraordinary irony of the Times not seeing the actual Tax Returns or the supporting data, but some form of "summary" of the returns from which anti-Trump conclusions are being made.
