This is why Trump should not release his tax information. Realizing tax losses and using them to offset future income is a prudent tax strategy every tax payer should explore. Yet the media does not seem to connect the dots, only attempt to paint Trump as bumbler. 
What's even more important is what is NOT being reported by the Times:
1. There is no indication that there was any involvement with Russians or any other foreign power.
2. There's no reason to believe any of his income or assets would influence the Emoluments Clause.

What's also not being reported is the extraordinary irony of the Times not seeing the actual Tax Returns or the supporting data, but some form of "summary" of the returns from which anti-Trump conclusions are being made.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Congress is demanding ALL the Mueller information because they don't like the pro-Trump conclusions drawn by Mueller/Barr and are painting Barr as a liar for publishing a (gulp) "summary" 3 "critical" weeks before releasing a mostly unredacted report.
