5/10 If it’s a RAPiD poster discussion session - make sure to prepare what you’re going to & practice, practice, practice - you can get everybody interested in your work in 90 seconds, but you can also lose them! #ATS2019 #PresentationTips @atsearlycareer, @ATS_Assemblies

6/10 When people ask you a question at your poster, focus on them & don’t get distracted, then answer with detail, referring to data on your poster & if you don’t know the answer, say: I don’t know #ATS2019 #PresentationTips @atsearlycareer, @ATS_Assemblies

7/10 Leave your comfort zone - many people come by the poster - avoid the tendency to speak only with people you know. Engage the people you don’t know, introduce yourself & ask for input - you’ll make many friends #ATS2019 #PresentationTips @atsearlycareer, @ATS_Assemblies

8/10 Be an expert - know all the methods & topics mentioned in your presentation. Show u understand the limitations of your method & know pertinent literature. We are scientists & are impressed by knowledge not by #Fluff #ATS2019 #PresentationTips @atsearlycareer, @ATS_Assemblies

9/10 If you are alone near your poster & nobody is approaching you, don’t focus on your phone, don’t feel bad & definitely don’t leave. Instead be patient, introduce yourself & offer to walk through your poster #ATS2019 #PresentationTips @atsearlycareer, @ATS_Assemblies

10/10 Enjoy - poster sessions are all about the interaction & the ATS is the only place in the world you’ll find so many people interested in what you’re interested in - enjoy the camaraderie, the exchange of ideas, the excitement #ATS2019 @atsearlycareer, @ATS_Assemblies
