Further: the help Giuliani sought from Ukraine govt. cd only have been obtained by leveraging the U.S.' strategic relationship w/, and influence over, Ukraine. They depend on us, among other things, for arms. Trump is extorting Ukraine for personal ends, using national power.
Trump's pro-Russian, anti-Ukraine stance was first seen in the weakening of the GOP platform's plank on arms for Ukraine. It was displayed again when he lectured G7 leaders that Crimea was Russian and they shd forget Russia's invasion and move on.

His attitude was also displayed when his personal lawyer, Cohen, demanded and received a cash bribe from Ukrainian Pres. Poroshenko to arrange an Oval Office mtg w/ Trump shortly after inauguration.
Trump has thus put Ukraine on notice that he's a friend of Ukraine's enemy, Putin, and that Ukraine shd tread exceptionally carefully in dealing w/ Trump. In that context, Giuliani was going to demand help from Ukraine prosecutors in launching a DOJ investigation of Biden's son.

Some questions needing answers (many answerable by Mueller):
1. Was there ever a sealed indictment of Assange for election related activities ? If so, what happened to it ?
2. Is DOJ using Rule of Specialty in extradition law to cut off election related prosecution of Assange ?
3. Was Don Jr. ever indicted under seal ? If so, what happened to it ?
4. Have *any* sealed indictments by SCO been quietly withdrawn by Barr ? Is withdrawal of an indictment reportable to Congress under SCO regs ?
5. Did Rosenstein give Barr a draft copy of the Report and, if so, when ? Did Barr lie yesterday in saying he had seen no copy of the Report b4 Mueller submitted on Mar. 22 ?

THREAD One: Highlights of panel discussion at Noon today @ NYU Law School, titled “Probing Mueller,” featuring @PreetBharara (PB) and @NatashaBertrand (NB), chaired by Ryan Goodman @rgoodlaw (RG).
2. RG: What shd we look for in the report to be released tomorrow ? NB: Per convos she’s had w/ @neal_katyal, his SCO regs were never meant to cover a CI investigation. Mueller has therefore concentrated on crim investigations.
To extent there’s *any* trace of CI work in report, it will be heavily redacted. This leaves unresolved many ‘conspiracy/collusion’ related issues: TT meeting; Manafort passing polling data to KK; role of Mifsud, etc.

@tribelaw What if an indictment of Assange for election related offenses has *already* been filed, under seal, at the same time as the indictment of Stone ? What if they were 'twin' indictments, each buttressing the other ? +
@tribelaw What if that Assange indictment, brought by the SCO and handed to either the DC USA's office or EDVA USA, has either been quietly withdrawn, or is about to be effectively quashed by operation of the Rule of Specialty ?+
@tribelaw Mueller's testimony, either public or private, will clarify whether such a sealed indictment exists, or existed. If it does, failure to reference it in the Assange extradition application will reveal a conscious plan to 'deep six' it via Rule of Specialty.

#Putin's opening to this press conference suggests the takeover of southern #Syria by Asad/Iran is a model of U.S.-Russia cooperation that should be expanded, and flatters Trump that his summit with Kim [which Putin very much liked the look of] resolved the Korean Peninsula.
On #Ukraine, Putin hints broadly that the U.S. agrees with him that Kyiv's intransigence prevented Minsk's implementation, and then carefully lets it be known Trump brought up the election meddling, an assist to Trump politically, before of course dismissing it.
