Since no one else seems to have made the connection, Que Sera Sera is a terrible way to look at Brexit

1/
Fatalism of any kind is really bad in politics, for three reasons

2/
Firstly, it's simply not true. Politics is always contingent, changing and changeable. Failure to recognise that is failure to understand the nature of the beast

3/
Secondly, it robs your of your power, your agency. If you that whatever will be, will be, then there's no point in doing anything

4/
Thirdly, it gives power to someone else. And other don't care as much about your interests as you do, more generally speaking

5/
Brexit demonstrates this in spades.

There is no inevitable conclusion, just a set of choices that will have to be made.

And if they're not made by you, then they'll be made by someone else

6/
So whether you want to be rich, or famous, or see a Brexit that you like, then you're going to have to work for it
