1/ AG Barr tells @WSJ that "his long-held belief in executive power is more about protecting the presidency than the current officeholder." He added, “I felt the rules were being changed to hurt Trump, and I thought it was damaging for the presidency over the long haul.” 
2/ This comment echoes CJ Roberts's observation in Trump v. Hawaii: "we must consider not only the statements of a particular President, but also the authority of the Presidency itself" #SCOTUS
3/ These sentiments, which Barr and Roberts share, have animated the bulk of my work since 2017. I have no interest in defending President Trump, but I willingly defend the Presidency itself.
