NEW: Cohen admitted it was 'plausible' that Trump wasn't telling him to lie to Congress. dailycaller.com/2019/05/21/coh…
Cohen's claim that Trump told him in coded language to lie is based on a May 2017 meeting at Oval Office where Trump told him to "cooperate" with Congress. Trump also reiterated there was "no collusion, no Russia, no deals."
And that's arguably true. There was no collusion, and the Trump Tower Moscow deal failed. But Cohen claims this was Trump telling him to lie.
Except nowhere in Cohen's testimony does he say that he and Trump actually discussed specifics of his testimony. Cohen and Trump didn't get into the details -- they didn't discuss whether the negotiations ended in Jan. or June 2016.
Despite all this, BuzzFeed is claiming vindication today. They claim Cohen detailed how he and Trump and Jay Sekulow met to hammer out how Cohen would lie to Congress. But in reality, this all hinges on Cohen's interpretation of "cooperate" and "there's no Russia."
