I wouldn't joke about this, it's no longer beyond the realm of the possible. We shall see soon enough how concentrated the brexit vote is and how fragmented is remain. Unfortunately he has the charisma and the skills exist to make this possible. Don't be complacent - see Trump ->
i.e. the betting odds on Nigel becoming PM before 2025 have shortened to 3/1. That's rather alarming. I would advise taking the possibility as serious and preparing to counter any post EU election moves.
X : Do you think Corbyn should go and Labour adopt remain?
Me : Only if you want to increase the likelihood of Farage as PM. We will know better on Monday. A more effective path would be to explain to the "Anyone but Corbyn" crowd that what they're promoting is Farage as PM.

Me : You can manipulate a space through many mechanisms including use of artificial needs e.g. to stop a vacuum cleaner being a commodity, get people to focus on "not losing suction"
... you can manipulate a social space and the ethical systems in exactly the same way. Create an artificial need i.e. Make America Great Again is nationhood equivalent of "It doesn't lose suction" ... does it clean the floor better, will peoples lives be better?
... you can also distract opponents with constant misdirection. The outrage cycle is great at this, it's the vacuum cleaner equivalent of making it look space age, so people don't realise they're paying a fortune for something trivially poor at its job.

Me : When practices or activities industrialise, it can take 20 years for the laggards to accept it as a "new norm" and that's after the decade or so it takes to actually become the new norm.
... in other words, many of the companies that I see talk about digital, platform, open source and ecosystems are using pre Web 2.0 ideas. At best, they're 15 years behind (and that's being kind). The gulf between them and industrial players like Amazon is vast.

Me : No. The gulf in engineering talent is miniscule. Netflix who happily competes with Amazon gets its engineering talent from you. The problem is at the executive layer and then the next few layers down into management.

I was going to tag a few people into this thread, who I knew were discussing the subject matter, but I've decided not to & let's just see where it goes.
I just want to make a few observations about the upcoming EP elections & the Remain 'strategy'. But first - #Brexit and #Trump.
There are distinct parallels between how the Trump and Brexit campaigns were co-ordinated. The one I want to focus on is the ability of both campaigns to successfully unite their core support (both roughly 37% of the electorate) under a single issue.
That issue is Nationalism.
Now I realise that other strings hang off that issue, but it is at the heart of everything emanating from both Trump and Brexit Leavers.
And this is where they have the advantage over both US Liberals and UK Remainers.
Because as Remainers, we *know* Brexit is complicated.

You can almost hear the sound of combined eye-rolling across 27 European capitals .. as the PM requests a #Brexit extension-time (till 30th June) that Brussels has already repeatedly rejected /1
PM knows EU will likely insist on longer extension with option to end earlier as soon as parliament has ratified #Brexit deal (see: Donald Tusk’s proposed ‘flextension’) BUT by asking for shorter extension she avoids further flak from ERG-ites à la “Brussels forced my hand!” /2
EU leans toward longer extension to avoid being constantly approached by the PM for a rolling series of short extensions with threat of no deal always round the corner. Message from EU “Dear Theresa, Enough of the drama already! We have other non #Brexit issues on our plate.” /3

The Brexit vote was against our London-centric system. So if there's an economic hit because of a Brexit London voted against, Westminster would make sure the London Banking sector survived but everywhere else...
Many of the problems that pushed people to vote Brexit had nothing to do with the EU. One of those problems was the government choosing to protect the banks who caused the crash with bailouts while ordinary people just got austerity.
The rich took irresponsible risks with the country's future, but they were protected either by moving their money away or by the government and it was those with least who suffered the most.
