1/ Hugely influential right-wing economist James Buchanan regarded democracy as a parasite preying on the wealthy. He advocated crippling democracy through stealth tactics. #Brexit is a perfect example of those tactics in action.

2/ Buchanan was not the only one who regarded democracy as a parasite preying on the rich. The same view was shared by Rees-Mogg's father William Rees-Mogg, who outlined how the global super-rich could take control from nations. His son is faithfully carrying out his program.
3/ This is the kleptocratic side of what I call "kleptofascism". But a tiny super-rich elite requires people to do their work for them, so employing Buchanan's stealth tactics they are using popular fears and anxieties & far-right politicians to undermine democratic states.
4/ In the UK the kleptocratic network has worked via think-tanks and other means to subvert the Tory party, but it has hedged its bets by also backing Farage and the far-right - including Yaxley-Lennon theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/d…

In the late 1990s Farage used to casually refer to "niggers" & "nig-nogs". He hasn't changed his views, he's just become more careful. We need to expose his racism to the public. Decent people must be shocked into realising why they have to vote.

Our biggest adversary in the @EUElections is not Farage, it is apathy. We need to get decent anti-racist folk off their sofas and into the polling stations. It is better to shock them with Farage's language than to let Farage prevail with all that will follow from that.
Some Remainers don't want to reproduce Farage's foul racist language. But that is a stance which protects Farage in his lie that he is not a racist. We need decent people to see what Farage is in all his true racist ugliness.

1/ In a healthy democracy the referendum would have allowed all those most affected to vote. There would have been a supermajority provision, a well informed debate, a crime-free campaign & provision for an informed consent vote at the end of negotiations.

2/ In a healthy democracy it would have been explained that the referendum was advisory. The right to oppose #Brexit would have been respected, there would have been no lies that A50 was irrevocable, no hiding of critical information & no cover-ups & complicity in electoral crime
3/ In a healthy democracy the majority of the press by circulation would not have operated as the unified propaganda mouthpiece of a hard-right faction, and the BBC would have respected its duty to inform rather than giving equal coverage to lies & facts in the name of balance.

#brexit seems to be all about feeling over fact and this is especially true of the ReesMogg ERG faction of the Tory right.
I never bought the line that #brexit is about Democracy because most of the Tory right had zero enthusiasm for improving democracy in the UK few of them care about unelected house of lords the unfair FPTP electoral system or transparency on the contrary
Most of the Tory right are interested only in constitutional changes that suit them and if anything strive to be as little democratically accountable as possible.

To clarify, I am remain, but I feel a 2nd ref is monumentally risky & perhaps dangerous:-

1. Polls haven't changed much, result could easily be the same
2. Another campaign of hate will embolden the far right
3. If remain win. Leavers will demand another vote
4. Chaos & unrest are likely whatever the result, possibly violence too

What happens if it's still 'Leave'? Picture the chaos, square one. You're simply allowing the Tories more time to fail to come up with a solution. Every day that continues people in this country will suffer
What if it's 'Remain'? Leavers will, with some justification, query why this vote is more valid than the first. This has the potential to cause a constitutional crisis.

People can say 'we know the facts now' all they like, that will not placate millions of angry voters.

THREAD (1) When the likes of Hannan feel the need to 'brush off' something so critical to the right-wing/neo-con #Brexit wet dream, we find digging a little deeper to be useful. After all, ground breaking 'shadow trade deals' with right-wing US think tanks is no small fish.
(2) In fact, given the growing negativity surrounding the #Brexit negotiations, compounded by the Govts' own damning economic analysis, one would have thought Hannan and Fox et al, would be shouting from the roof tops about their bespoke 'shadow US-UK trade deal.' Wouldn't you?
(3) The problem for our intrepid trade deal making duo, as almost always, is to be found in the detail; just what are, and who is, behind these neo-con US think tanks? Perhaps Daniel would enlighten us?
