1) You have to understand that “Democratic Party blows it / caves / is in disarray” is the single most ratings-friendly narrative in the history of politics. Therefore, the media very frequently pushes this narrative when the facts make clear that it’s not true.
2) As a liberal, your brain is wired to believe any negative news you hear about your own side (as opposed to conservatives, who are wired to believe any positive news about their own side). The media, which is a for-profit business, knows this about you and puts it to good use.
3) When the media constantly tells you that the Democratic Party is blowing it, it’s because they know you’ll respond to this with outrage against the Democratic Party, and you’ll stay glued to this kind of reporting, thus rewarding the media with huge ratings.
4) It’s so damn easy to get ratings by telling liberals that the Democratic Party is blowing it, the media feeds you this narrative even when it’s not true. They’re counting on you to day “sounds about right” instead of taking ten seconds to think of through.
5) Today the media reported that House Democrats caved in trying to get Trump’s financial records from Deutsche Bank. That’s literally fake news. It’s not what happened. But a lot of liberals swallowed it whole, and spent the day screaming at the Democrats over it.
6) What actually happened? Democrats procedurally waived their right to pursue the subpoena while it’s being appealed, which would have gotten them nowhere anyway, so they could get an expedited appeal. It’s literally just how things work. They gave up nothing. Not even a story.
7) The media pushes so many false stories about the Democrats blowing it, specifically to enrage liberals and get them to stay tuned in, the truth doesn’t stand a chance. When I report what actually, factually happened, a lot of liberals attack my credibility for it.
8) If you’re following me on here, then you know that when my headlines differ from that of the mainstream media, I’m always proven right and they’re proven full of shit. But a whole lot of liberals are lazy, and just believe whatever the largest number of headlines say that day.
9) The sad part is the media tells them the doomsday bullshit they instinctively want to hear, then when I factually point that only ten things are on fire instead of twenty, they accuse ME of being the one telling people what they want to hear. They’re spun around backward.
10) So I can’t reach the laziest of liberals. That means it’s your job to reach them. The liberals in your circle are more inclined to listen to you, when you factually explain to them that the scary story they just heard from the mainstream media is doomsday hyperbole.
11) The mainstream media is a multimillion dollar for-profit industry that exists to turn a profit for shareholders – and that’s done through ratings. Literally every decision they make is based on ratings. They’re not your friend or your enemy. They’re just a business entity.
12) It scares me when people say they read Palmer Report because I’m so “optimistic.” Huh? There isn’t one ounce of optimism in my analysis. We’re in hell. I just don’t try to scare you into thinking it’s even more horrible and hopeless than it is, like the mainstream media does.
13) Reality: Trump’s low approval rating keeps him from accomplishing most of his political goals. 95% of the things he threatens to do end up not happening. The Democrats frequently stop or slow him. So do the courts. Things are shit, but all of the above is still factually true
14) I reluctantly went into political analysis because political activists like you are best served by knowing what’s actually going on. If the media did its job more earnestly, I wouldn’t need to spend the day cutting through their ratings-driven bullshit for your benefit.
15) I could be a whole lot more popular, and face far less scrutiny, if I just went with whatever prevailing narrative the mainstream media was pushing each day, instead of trying to cut through the bullshit. But then I’d be contributing nothing.
16) But it’s not about me. It’s about you. The stakes are getting even higher now, which means the media narratives will get even more doomsday and hyperbolic. Will you let it paralyze you? Or will you help rally the troops? The Resistance needs you. The truth needs you.
17) I beg you, don’t become one of these toxic zombies who keep yelling “Democrats aren’t doing anything” and “Trump is going to get away with it all.” If you believe that, why the hell are you still in this fight? And if you don’t believe it, why make things worse by saying it?
18) In a war, each side has winning and losing days, winning and losing battles. When your side is having a rough day, you never improve your odds of turning it around by yelling doomsday shit. You soberly assess the facts, and you plot to fight the next day.
19) America has been getting its ass kicked for 2.5 years. Trump has also been getting his ass kicked for 2.5 years. That’s how war works. He’s far more weak and vulnerable than he’s ever been. His scary threats, and the corresponding doomsday headlines, don’t change that fact.
20) If you want to win this war, try to keep a level head. Learn to ignore the pundits who try to manipulate you by telling you that it’s even worse than it is. Things are terrible enough without those assholes pretending even it’s worse.
21) When one side makes aggressive threats, it doesn’t mean they’re suddenly winning. When one side makes a smart legal move instead of just loudly stomping their feet, it doesn’t mean they’re caving.
22) And when Palmer Report factually points out that only ten things are on fire as opposed to twenty, it doesn’t mean I’m being “optimistic” or “telling you what you want to hear.” It just shows you how badly the prevailing ratings-driven media narratives can skew perceptions.
