To celebrate #PrideMonth, we have a special moment of our own to share… The first time a Pride flag has ever flown from our @NewYorkFed offices. 🏳️‍🌈 #MomentsOfPride #Pride #WorldPride #Stonewall50
Hi, I’m Kathi. I grew up a military brat and lived all over, including Tunisia & Bolivia. I’m grateful for the exposure to different cultures and social settings as I grew up. I believe it helped me understand myself and others in more profound ways. #MomentsOfPride #Stonewall50
The basis of the LGBTQ+ community is so fundamentally basic to human nature: equality, self-love, and acceptance. I find it no coincidence that synonyms of the word ‘gay’ are cheerful, jolly, and vivacious. It’s a human right to live an enjoyable life. #MomentsOfPride #PrideMonth
My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? Take time to know yourself, and who you want to be — connect to this vision and be able to bring that to the table, both in your professional and personal life. When you like you, it’s much easier for other people to like you.
#MomentsOfPride
My favorite part of the legacy of Stonewall is the response of the gay community to being unfairly persecuted. They came together and sang songs. Although riots erupted after, this event triggered a turning point to encourage acceptance of individual differences.

Hi, I’m Samuel. I grew up in Baltimore City, Maryland, and I’m a huge Star Wars fan. I love the movies, and the novels and cartoons as well. Star Wars NOT Star Trek (they are in fact different!). I’m a big fan of bebop jazz, and enjoy going to jazz venues in NYC. #Pride
I love traveling, and I’ve been to over 30 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia & Europe. I’ve never met a country I didn’t like. At home and abroad, I try to support as many LGBTQ+ owned businesses and attend events that recognize the LGBTQ+ community. #Pride #MomentsOfPride
My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? Always know the value of your contributions, and your ability to influence outcomes. You bring a fresh and interesting perspective that your non-LGBTQ+ peers may not always see. #MomentsOfPride #Pride #PrideMonth #Stonewall50
Stonewall's legacy is important because it makes clear the challenges and obstacles that LGBTQ+ members experienced. At work, in their community, and among family members. It must have been extremely difficult. My road hasn’t been easy, but I’m happy I can be me. #Stonewall50
Hi, I’m David. I grew up on the beaches of Southwest Florida. I’m passionate about travel, photography and scuba diving. Some recent highlights are Japan, New Zealand & Cuba. Next year, my husband and I are booked to return to the Maldives for our 5th anniversary. #MomentsOfPride
My husband & I bring our whole selves to everything we do. Living as out gay men, in a bi-racial marriage within a multi-faith diverse family, we are cognizant that we celebrate ourselves and those that came before us simply by being ourselves. #MomentsOfPride #Pride #Stonewall50
My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? When identifying potential employers, ask questions to ensure you’ve found an employer that unquestionably supports you bringing your whole self to work. Get involved with employee resource networks & seek LGBTQ+ mentors. #Stonewall50 #Pride
As a young lawyer at a global investment firm, I was able to be out and join a LGBTQIA+ resource group. Five years ago, I married the love of my life. We are beneficiaries of the civil rights movement, and we’re PROUD to be ambassadors of the Stonewall legacy. #Stonewall50 #Pride
Hi, I’m Karine. I grew up in Brooklyn, close to a favorite place of mine, the Brooklyn Museum. Being both an immigrant and queer, I’ve felt like an outsider throughout my life. But now it is critical for all of us to be as unapologetically visible as possible to celebrate #Pride
I grew up with art and I think it is an invaluable way to get difficult messages to diverse audiences. Art is also prescient. Many of the issues that we struggle with today have been the focus of so many artists throughout our lifetime and in centuries before. #PrideMonth #Pride
My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? Choose your workplace carefully. It can be difficult to make those choices when money is the primary motivator, but an open and supportive environment is very important to your sense of well-being and acceptance. #Stonewall50 #Pride
Stonewall’s a beacon for queer folk around the world. Many of our rights were stripped and rendered meaningless for so long; the #Stonewall riots marked a breaking point in the struggle for dignity. It was then that we stood up to say that our rights & our lives mattered. #Pride
Hi, I’m Shawn. I grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, and moved to Queens in middle school. I’m a big tennis fan, and like to travel to tournaments throughout the year. I’ve been to 3 of the 4 Grand Slam tournaments (the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open). #MomentsOfPride
#Pride in New York City is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Being from the Caribbean & growing up in Trinidad — I am very familiar with the Carnival culture. NYC Pride takes that to a whole new level. This year NYC is hosting #WorldPride, and I can’t wait to see it! #Stonewall50
My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? Find a mentor and support through your colleagues. My mentors have encouraged my journey for my whole career, and I have been lucky to be surrounded by supportive and respectful colleagues. #MomentsOfPride #Pride #Stonewall50
#Stonewall was the beginning of 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 and 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 for LGBTQ+ rights. Our community is well known for being good at mobilizing in support of each other during crisis. This all stems from Stonewall’s legacy. #MomentsOfPride #Stonewall50 #Pride
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of 1st year MBA students from @ReachingOutMBA. They toured the museum & gold vault, heard from OPEN resource network members about their experiences working at the @NewYorkFed & learned about #PrideMonth activities around the Bank
Hi, I’m Gil. I grew up in the DC Metro area. I have a degree in Sociology, and find people and cultures fascinating. I’m an avid cross fitter, and enjoy renovating my 100 yr old home. I also TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return) feral cats in my neighborhood. #MomentsofPride
I’m such a bad lesbian. I haven’t been to a march in years. I went to a Pride parade a few years ago, but I got the date wrong. I traveled from NJ to NYC, and couldn’t figure out where everyone was, until, of course, I realized my mistake. #Pride #PrideMonth
My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? Be out if you can be. You will never regret being brave. You will regret years spent suppressing yourself.
#MomentsofPride #Pride #PrideMonth
I was introduced to the quote “You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.” I liken it to Stonewall. The progress made was, by and large, not going to be experienced and enjoyed by them. Nevertheless, they fought on.

Hi, I’m Vikram. I grew up in Richmond, Virginia. I love to travel, and I’m a foodie at heart. I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively in Asia and Europe, and I'd love to go to Brazil or Colombia next. As a foodie, NYC has been a game changer.
#MomentsOfPride #PrideMonth
Pride is such a special time of year! 4 years ago my friends and I didn't sign up to march, we just planned on watching the parade. On the subway to the parade, a Caribbean-American group with a float insisted we march with them to make our 1st NYC Pride special.

My advice to LGBTQ+ in the workforce? As someone new to the workforce, I know I’m lucky to work for an organization that values diversity and strives to treat every employee equally. Vet potential employers, and gauge their attitude toward diversity and inclusion.

The legacy of Stonewall is so important to me. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am eternally moved and cognizant of the fact that Stonewall set in motion the global human rights campaign that led to major gains like marriage equality.

On the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Inn uprising, we are sharing more of our moments of pride.
