And now, we await to see who has made it and who hasn’t. No thanks to @SamGyimah who has spoilt the surprise. Though with his departure, none of the candidates left have set out a way of breaking the parliamentary impasse.

Spare a thought for Graham Brady. He once read out the names. Then he tried to become one of the names. It didn’t work out. Life can be tough.

Mark Harper did well to get nominated. Being Chief Whip even ages ago has its rewards. Kudos to him too for the names of his proposer and seconder. “Harper, Doyle Price and Double” sounds like a superb Victorian undertakers.

Even with the rule changes intended to deter no hope candidates, at ten this is the most crowded Conservative leadership race in history:
