I'm trying to count the ways it's going to go wrong when the Tories get their new leader.
They got elected promising something they can't do.
They promise something to the Conservative party, the country doesn't get a say in it, and it immediately fails anyway.
I can't see they can do anything but resign or call a general election.
You can't become prime minister on a new policy that the country didn't vote for, and then as soon as that goes wrong pull something new out your arse and carry on like you own it.
When Boris Johnson's Brexit plan fails, he will be forced to put a new one to the country at an election.
Soon. How soon? This country moves pretty fast when it wants. If everyone else quits the race this week, we could get an election within a week.
There'll only be two left by Thursday anyway. If they arrange it they could have a new leader by Friday and call an election on Monday.

I don't know they will, but I would.
Why an election that fast?
Because if the new leader goes one step further into Brexit they will fail and they will have to resign. They won't want to resign in two days, and an election will be their only way out.
So on the assumption the new leader will not resign within two days the only way they can justify themself after that will be by winning a general election.
Johnson becomes Tory leader on Friday when the final candidate drops out.
Assembles a majority over the weekend. Queen appoints him prime minister on Monday.
Goes to the European Union to renegotiate. Europe says no. It's over, and there's no one to negotiate with.
Now he has to inform the House that he has just failed to do what he was elected to do three days ago.
Now he's got no authority, no mandate, no plan and no legitimacy for anything he wants to do next.
Prime minister on Monday, vote of no confidence on Tuesday

General election.
The daft way our country works, having random elections that nobody knows about until they spring up out of nowhere.
