List of psychological thrillers / mindfuck movies / plot twist movies:

A thread
THE INVISIBLE GUEST (2016)
My ultimate favourite movie. Suspense throughout & it keeps you guessing until the very last second. Several plot twists. Can’t stress enough how important it is that you see this movie
THE OTHERS (2001)
Another favourite. Major plot twist at the end that’ll leave you thinking, “what the actual fuck?” but in a good way. You’ll probably need to watch family guy or something afterwards to lighten the mood so you’ll be able to sleep soundly, though.
DREAM HOUSE (2011)
A little scary, but not a horror movie. There’s a plot twist half way through and then the rest of the movie is explanation of the plot twist / exploring the plot twist. Extremely well done.
CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR (2015)
Don’t be deterred by the presence of Nick Jonas because this shit is FIRE. Definitely one of my favourites. Suspense throughout, and a plot twist at the end.
A CLEAN KILL / HER MARRIED LOVER (1999)
It has an old lifetime movie kinda feel, you start watching and you think it’s just a drama but there’s a huge plot twist at the end. Highly highly recommend.
THE HIDDEN FACE (2011)
I highly urge you not to watch the trailer or google what it’s about. Just watch it and take my word for it that it’s sheer perfection. Endless suspense and a plot twist at the end.
THE TALL MAN (2012)
This is the movie that first got me interested in psychological thrillers and plot twists. Suspense and mystery throughout, and a big plot twist at the end.
THE PRESTIGE (2006)
It’s not a thriller, not really suspense either. Just a regular story that’s good enough to keep you interested & a big reveal at the end. I wouldn’t say it’s a plot twist because the entire movie is about finding out the answer to this one question.
BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP (2014)
Really good suspense movie with a plot twist. You’ll be on the edge of your seat the entire time. Not scary as the name would lead you to think.
MEMENTO (2000)
I’m mad at myself for even suggesting this one. The way it’s done is confusing, yet interesting - brilliant actually. Which is the only reason I recommend watching it. But the actual plot I don’t even think I fully understood. Check it out. Or don’t. Maybe don’t.
THE GAME (1997)
Giant mindfuck. This entire movie is just a truckload of mindfuck. Interpret that as you will. Leaves you thinking, “wooowwwww seriously?” at the end but if that’s your cup of tea then proceed.
DEN OF THIEVES (2018)
I was thoroughly impressed because I truly assumed this was just another bank robbery action movie. But there’s a great plot twist at the end that MAKES the entire movie.
LIFE (2017)
I’m not even gonna front.. my mother was watching this movie and I came in only for the last 10 minutes and only witnessed the plot twist which was fucking STELLAR. I’m guessing the entire movie was good though. My mom said it was good.
CHLOE (2009)
Drama, infidelity, betrayal, secrets and a plot twist.
EX MACHINA (2015)
This movie was on my list of movies to watch for so long and I only just got around it it recently. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mindfuck ending.
SEARCHING (2018)
The beginning is slow.. painfully slow.. to the point where you just want to get up and leave. But what’s it REALLY starts, shit’s fire. Endless guessing and suspense. You’ll be on the edge of your seat for the last half an hour. Plot twist.
THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN (2016) GONE GIRL (2014)
Plot twist / unexpected turn of events. Both really good movies with a similar vibe. (I’m putting them together because I’m running out of space)
LOVELACE (2013)
Based on a true story. You’re led to think it’s just a dramatic story but it’s so much more. Wouldn’t say plot twist, just unexpected turn of events that doesn’t change the outcome of the story.
PRIMAL FEAR (1996)
Brilliant. Twisted, weird storyline with a great plot twist. This has mindfuck written all over it.
A SIMPLE FAVOUR (2018)
Gone girl vibe. I really enjoyed this movie because it’s the first I’ve seen that combines plot twist and comedy. Many plot twists and many laughs.
PRISONERS (2013)
All the suspense of a father losing this mind trying to take matters into his own hands to find his kidnapped daughter. Absolutely thrilling
SECRETS IN THEIR EYES
Suspense, thriller, absolutely amazing movie from beginning to end. Plot twist. Highly highly highly recommend. One of the best I’ve seen.
WHAT LIES BENEATH (2000)
Honestly don’t remember much of the plot because i was so young but I do remember it being thrilling and gripping from start to finish. Pretty sure there’s a plot twist.
THE UNINVITED (2009)
Thriller and big plot twist at the end. It has a bit of a teenybopper feel to it but it’s worth it.
THE MIST (2007)
From what I remember the movie itself was nothing special.. maybe even kinda trash but the plot twist.. oh the plot twist. Definitely high on my list of mindfuck plot twists. Made the whole thing worth it.
THE LOVELY BONES (2009)
Pretty sure everyone has seen this and I don’t have to write a description but just in case - Tragically beautiful. Plot twist early on in the movie. Suspenseful and thrilling.
FIGHT CLUB (1999)
I personally don’t like this one but everyone else seems to, so I’ll include it. Pretty pointless storyline in my opinion but mindfuck & plot twist ending
THE USUAL SUSPECTS (1995)
This is one to not google. I googled half way through the movie and spoiled the plot twist for me so I didn’t have a chance to get into it. Everyone else seems to love it though. A classic
THE SECRET WINDOW (2004)
Creepy, weird, mysterious mindfuck.
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM (2000)
A very strange movie. It makes you feel quite uncomfortable throughout. It’s not a thriller, there’s no plot twist but it’s definitely a mindfuck. Need to watch at least 2 family guy episodes afterwards.
WILD THINGS (1998)
Plot twist plot twist plot twist. Every time you think you know what’s going on, you actually don’t.
THE BODY (2012)
Suspense throughout and plot twist at the end. Can be watched on YouTube.
REASONABLE DOUBT (2014)
There’s a plot twist early on and suspense throughout.
DONT BREATHE (2016)
Every minute of this movie has you on the edge of your seat. Thrilling and filled with suspense the whole way through. Unexpected turn of events.
GET OUT (2017)
Mindfuck. Every second of it. I actually felt kind of trapped watching this movie. Brilliantly executed. Can’t think of any flaws in this movie. Highly recommend.
ARRIVAL (2016)
I found it a bit slow to begin with, wasn’t really interested, but the way things came together at the end made it worth it. Interesting, unexpected turn of events.
SE7EN (1995)
I’m including this because I know many people like this movie, I personally didn’t. I’d hyped up myself for a way bigger plot twist. Found it kind of anticlimactic... but I think I’m one of the very few people who didn’t enjoy it.
THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT (2004)
Mindfuck. Major mindfuck. I was actually in a bad mood after watching this because I’m always thinking “what if one little thing set my destiny off track a while back?” and this movie is all about that. Anyway.. no plot twist, just mindfuck.
MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001)
Mindfuck. I truly didn’t know what was going on for most of the movie. I was actually upset that I wasted my time watching this. Had to google just to make sure I pieced it together correctly. Anyway, maybe it’s y’all cup of tea so I’ll include
PREDESTINATION (2014)
The ultimate mind fuck. Kudos to you if you can watch this movie without pausing to gather your thoughts. Brain was fried after watching this.
