THREAD

1)
Let’s talk about the @nytimes’ latest attempt to provide life support for the regime in #Iran, co-authored by @farnazfassihi, a known Tehran apologist/lobbyist.
2)
In line with Iran’s state-media in their attempts to help the mullahs save face following new sanctions targeting Khamenei & the IRGC, the NYT piece describes Tehran’s response as “measured.”

You be the judge:
3)
The entire article is based on a supposed tweet (which the NYT piece fails to provide a link to) claiming the Iranian people are against U.S. sanctions targeting the regime.
4)
The NYT authors claim the sanctions will have “little practical impact.”

My question for the NYT authors: So why all the concerns & why go through the trouble of writing this article?

Any thoughts @farnazfassihi?
5)
And BTW, in regards to the word “reformers” used by the NYT piece authors, they are referring to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

As a reminder, reports indicate over 3,800 people have been executed under the watch of the “moderate/reformist” Rouhani.
6)
While the NYT piece title claims to cite “Iranians,” the first actual individual quoted is the editor in chief of a state-run outlet associated to the terrorist-designated Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

Question for @farnazfassihi: You couldn’t do any better? Seriously?
7)
To be fair, let us listen to their arguments a bit further:
8)
What the authors will not tell you is that various reports place Khamenei’s assets at valuing nearly $200 billion, according to the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

9)
Reuters reported back in 2013:

"Setad's holdings of real estate, corporate stakes and other assets total about $95 billion..."

10)
Moving on.

Here’s the next argument provided by the NYT piece authors, yet they fail to cite a single name or even interview a person on the streets of Iran.
11)
So who do they recite?
The spokesman of an ultra-conservative body in Iran that vets all candidates’ loyalty to the supreme leader before they can even participate in any regime-staged elections.

Question for @farnazfassihi: You couldn’t do any better? Seriously?
12)
Here the NYT piece authors blow their cover completely.
They are concerned about the regime & @JZarif, not about the Iranian people.
They further blow their cover by describing Zarif as a “moderate.”
13)
The NYT piece authors, however, won’t tell you how the “moderate” @JZarif
-has close relations w/ the terrorist-designated IRGC
-is fond of the terrorist-designated Hezbollah
-& always defends Iran's policy of sending proxies/terrorists in support of Syrian dictator Assad.
15)
The NYT piece authors then cite “Ali Gholizadh” (@aqolizadeh), describing him as a “reform advocate.”

Of course, they won’t tell you how this “reform advocate” is quite fond of parroting Zarif’s talking points & loves to praise the terrorist-designated IRGC.
16)
The NYT piece authors continue the bogus “hardliners/reformists” notion of Iran’s political atmosphere. And they interestingly cite an IRGC mouthpiece.

My thoughts: What happened to those “Iranians”? Only regime officials?
17)
Here, the NYT piece authors again blow their cover by parroting the regime’s concerns, not those of the Iranian people:
U.S. sanctions targeting the mullahs’ oil revenues.
18)
Of course, the NYT piece authors will not tell you how Iran’s regime uses these revenues to fuel terrorism & foreign warmongering.
19)
And here we see the NYT piece authors legitimizing Iran’s measures of violating the 2015 nuclear deal.
20)
Of course, the NYT piece authors will not tell you that Iran’s regime has been violating the Obama-blessed 2015 nuclear deal all along.

21)
In their last attempt to paint a dovish image of Iran’s regime, the NYT piece authors cite Hesameddin Ashena (@hesamodin1), an advisor to the mullahs’ president.
Again they describe another regime figure as “moderate.”
22)
See how this “moderate” resorts to threats.
23)
I’m reassured further about this NYT piece seeking to provide life support for Tehran’s mullahs when I see another Iran apologist/lobbyist, @BahmanKalbasi, tweet about it.
24)
And of course, die-hard Obama loyalists such as @brhodes & @ColinKahl who blueprinted the highly flawed 2015 nuclear deal, are also rushing to the support of the mullahs’ ruling Iran.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?
25)
For me, it is surprise seeing the NYT rush to the support of Iran’s ruthless mullahs.

This thread shows their ties to Tehran.
