Two more points about census case.
1. It was like the reaction to Bush v. Gore. In hot political cases, people need to read carefully before jumping to conclusions about what Court has held.
2. John Roberts has made it super easy in future decades to include citizenship question.

On this second point, I think Roberts bought some short term credibility on left (maybe very short term slate.com/news-and-polit…) by rejecting government pretext for including citizenship question while writing an opinion that is long term benefit to GOP.
And if I were a betting person, I'd say DOJ tries to include the question on the census still for 2020, that the lower courts reject it, and that we are back before SCOTUS, where it all hinges on Roberts (and not sure what he'd do at this point with 2020).
