1/ So much to unpack here. Let's start with some basic fact-checking. #IranDeal
2/Freed up billions in assets. TRUTH: The USs did not give Iran money. Certain Iranian funds were unfrozen by other countries when the JCPOA lifted nuclear-related sanctions. Even after it was unfrozen, most of the funds weren't accessible. It was also not more than $55 billion.
3/ $1.7 billion was Iran's own money paid to the US before the revolution for arms purchases that were never delivered. You know why it was transferred in cash? Because sanctions relief didn't normalize Iran's banking relations!
4/4"Allows Iran to get a nuclear weapon in a few years." TRUTH: The deal blocked all paths to a nuclear weapons. The JCPOA contains provisions that create barriers to building nukes indefinitely, beyond any sunset clause, including through Additional Protocol (Google it!).
