THREAD - DIETARY DOGMA REVISITED

Slide from upcoming presentation

Should physicians & scientists be forced to disclose their personal dietary preferences?

Just this week 3 vegan MDs wrote an op-ed in @JAMAInternalMed about the dangers of a keto diet... and guess what?

1/n
SURPRISE! All of these doctors ARE VEGAN!

They CAUTION against using ketogenic diets, due in part becomes it possibly raises LDL.

Interestingly there hasnt been an op-ed by any physician in any journal cautioning anyone about the fact that SGLT2i increase LDL...
2/n
Furthermore they cite a meta-analysis that literally demonstrates that a ketogenic diet is superior to low fat diets, & that particular study isnt even the newest, other meta-analyses (in the free world) have been done since then that have shown even more favorable outcomes
3/n
I agree that a 5lb pound difference MAY not be clinically sig, when comparing say weight watchers to low fat. These MDs DIDNT mention even w/o the 5 pounds difference in favor of keto, that keto improves metabolic syndrome independent of weight loss. Conveniently left out.
4/n
Furthermore, their argument said that keto reduces fiber. There is no FIBER restriction on keto, so this is also a distraction.

5/n
So why would a group of doctors ignore the fact that keto is BETTER than other approaches, that it improves metabolic syndrome WITHOUT weight loss & strawman a fiber issue?

Conclusion: I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that they are all vegan.

NOTHING AT ALL
