George Nader has repeatedly been investigated for offenses related to underage boys. Nonetheless, Trump allies sought his help to navigate Middle East politics. Nader also visited the White House several times to meet with Bannon and Jared Kushner.

I know how things used to work - how they are supposed to work - at DOJ. Typically, the field US Attorneys’ Offices have considerable freedom/autonomy to follow the evidence wherever it leads and charge wrongdoers, free from political “intereference” from the AG. Of course...
2. We are in a new & dangerous era, one in which the AG acts in the best interest of the president, not the country. Indeed, Barr has become part of Trump’s propaganda/disinformation machine (i.e., by misrepresenting the nature/findings/conclusions of Mueller’s report).
3. Now, in any high-profile or politically sensitive case being handled by any US Attorney’s Office, there will be intense oversight by the upper echelons of DOJ (or what field AUSAs/fed prosecutors call “main Justice” or “main” for short). So this is why I said ...
