The key error made by many people is to assume that any revised Deal with the EU would not be immediately declared betrayal by Brexiter MPs who want a swift and total break with the EU or that it would not be immediately rejected by Remainer MPs who want a second referendum

Brexiter MPs would point to a revised backstop, NI only backstop, extended transition or any other compromise with the EU and accurately contrast these gambits with the tub-thumping promises Johnson made to them to get their votes for the leadership. His position would collapse

If Johnson presents a revised deal with the EU it will be too much for Brexiters who will feel betrayed, and too much for Remainers who do not trust him.

Many Brexiter MPs will defect to the Brexit Party, Many Remainer MPs will defect to parties that align with their views

As with Liberal Leavers and Soft Brexiters before them, the Dealists in parliament along with many analysts who have wasted years of time and effort trying to pitch the ideal Brexit Deal are being ground down in an environment defined by escalating polarisation.

In response to Boris Johnson's chaotic signalling both No Deal Brexiters and Remainers believe they might be on the cusp of victory.

No Deal Brexiters hope chaos will bring about No Deal by default. Remainers hope Johnson's carelessness will mobilise action against Brexit itself

All this pointless pitching of revised Deal options for Boris Johnson that will never survive a polarised UK parliament once again shows that when it comes to Brexit too many remember everything yet learn nothing
