This fairy story pushed by Boris Johnson claiming it is lack of patriotic faith which somehow has brought Brexit to it’s knees really is pulling the wool over our eyes. I ask you this. Why did the Brexit architects think so little of the UK and British influence all those years?
Do they believe their own press that their public policy failings were the fault of EU law? Do they believe their own press that the UK was a victim, a prisoner of the the EU whilst at the same time being
so important and powerful that the 27 partners would roll over and give them absolutely everything they want? The truth (complex and nuanced) of our relationship with the EU is a long way from the simplistic banana and kipper rubbish fed to the “masses” by Johnson & co.
The truth of our relationship is a million miles from this downtrodden victim that Farage and Johnson and Steve Bannon are trying to have us believe we have been for 40 years. What a load of rotten straight bananas these snake oil salesmen have fed you.
British influence WAS and IS important. We have been for 40 years right at the heart of the decision making in every way in partnership with the other now 27 countries who are our partners and closed allies and friends. An important read on this.

Our influence as an EU country is clear as day when you listen to people like @GuitarMoog who’s job it was for many years to make the most of the influence in order to shape the EU for our national interest. @FinalSayForAll #brexitispersonal

But what of the famous EU laws that went against us, I hear you little Leave Bots and Trolls cry? Well unfortunately for you Jim @mac_puck did some excellent work on exposing the truth here. Personally I don’t think he we have lost anything!

So that means we, the UK, wanted all the other AGREED Europe Wide rules, because, well, we AGREED. So to recap out of 34,105 UK laws, 4514 were influenced by EU law and we only voted against 72. So 98.5% of the time we influenced successfully and got what we wanted.
That’s a higher success than your average opposition influence in parliament, wouldn’t mind betting that’s a higher percentage than the success of our government getting their legislation through our parliament.

Don’t let Brexiters run our country down. #TakeItBack
Okay I don’t know what the baseball thing is Twitter has stuck on my hashtag. 🤷‍♀️ But anyway those were some of my #FridayThoughts
