I have bad news for the Charlatan. He is also bound by a decision of the Court of Session. thesun.co.uk/news/brexit/96…
The Charlatan, by his proxies, is saying, in effect, 'we know we are breaking the law but the courts can't stop us'. The proposition is (obviously) wrong - but for the PM no longer to think he should abide by the law shows how low Brexit has taken us. thesun.co.uk/news/brexit/96…
This stuff is also hugely self-defeating; I have asked our legal team to place it before the judge on Tuesday. For The Charlatan publicly to thumb his nose at the rule of law is to invite the Courts to respond. So much for Cummings' supposed evil genius! thesun.co.uk/news/brexit/96…

Corbyn's stance is now, in effect: "Make me Prime Minister or I'll let financially vulnerable families suffer the consequences of No Deal."
It's even worse than that. We could stop No Deal and then have a General Election in which Corbyn could seek the consent of voters to be PM. But that's not good enough for him. He is insisting on being made PM without a General Election - or struggling families get it.
And this is pure invention. If the Govt loses a vote of confidence, the next PM is the person able to win a confidence vote in the Commons - or you have a general election. There is no rule - none at all - that the leader of the Opposition becomes PM.

The fatal problem is that the Govt will win a vote of no confidence if the consequence of it losing that vote is that Corbyn becomes PM. And why does he need to lead an emergency Govt if it has only the limited mandate he suggests? Corbyn, once again, is helping deliver No Deal.
What Labour should be doing is setting out the mandate a temporary govt must have before Labour would support it. By insisting on a figure as divisive as Corbyn getting the prerogative powers it will cause many MPs to think twice before backing that govt - and kill the idea dead.
You can't simultaneously argue (1) "it's a limited mandate for a specific purpose" and (2) "Corbyn must lead that Government". If (1) is true then (2) is automatically false and if (2) is true then (1) is false. So, which is it?

The Government's 'defence' seems only to be that because Parliament amended the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Bill it follows that it is happy with any other suspension of Parliament. This (it seems to me at any rate) is an almost self-evidently bad proposition.
