Dependencies. My top 10 ways to improve the flow of work between teams.

Love your thoughts and better ideas.
(thread 1 / 11)
1.Higher priority “things” started by teams before lower priority things unless a really good reason. (thread 2 / 11)
2.“Things” have a priority assigned quickly and consistently and the reasons are known (thread 3 / 11)
3.The “first” team is quickly identified for all “things,” but especially the highest priority “things” (thread 4 / 11)
4.The “next” team should be identified no later than the “previous” team has started “things” (thread 5 / 11)
5.The “next” team should know they are “next” (thread 6 / 11)
6.The “next” team should know the ETA for started “things” no later than when the “prior” team begins (thread 7 / 11)
7.Teams should know their different work types and forecast using history (cycle times and risks) (thread 8 / 11)
8.“prior” teams have a contact person for each “thing” for knowledge transfer and integration (thread 9 / 11)
9.“prior” teams need to consider what capacity might be needed if “next” teams need help (thread 10 / 11)
10.If the “current” or “next” teams learn anything that might impede flow of a thing, they need to raise it early so that others can mitigate or explore other options. Communicate. (thread 11 / 11)
