When confronted with such situation, try your best to stay calm and not argue with them. Instead, calmly and solemnly sing (not yell) the hymn #SingHallelujahToTheLord. Why? (1)

Well, you may be aware that this hymn has been a big part of the #antiELAB movement in #HongKong. It conveys a message of peace and calm that serves as a stark contrast with the bombast of your opponents. (2)

The hymn also has the advantage of being in English, which can easily be understood (and even sung!) by the local community and the local press. Contrast that with your opponents who are slurring in another language and sound like a bunch of drunken football hooligans. (3)

Even if you are not a Christian, singing a religious hymn solemnly would help bring inner calm and hopefully help make you less afraid of the violent mob that is in front of you. (4)

On top of singing the hymn, do remember not to allow yourself to descend into bigotry against all Mainland Chinese. Many of them are your secret supporters even if they dare not voice it out. Many are neutral and could be won over by you if you are not bigoted. (5)

Locals are also more likely to stand on your side if you reject the temptation of bigotry. This is especially when your magnanimity is contrasted with your opponents who yell profanities and threats against you. (6)

Anyway, thank you all so much for standing up for #HongKong. May the hymn bring peace for you all, and may it and your rejection of bigotry bring you more support and admiration. (Ends)
