Attempting my first twitter thread to describe what we will cover in the free #GoogleAnalytics for #Retailers training workshop in London next Thurs 12th Sept.

We will start with introductions along with a statement on the purpose of digital analytics (its not reporting) 1/9

First discussion will be on the different options available to retailers for how they can increase profitability, with the actions being driven by the data available through analytics tools. 2/9

The first exercise will be to map out your own website, identifying page nodes, common customer paths and required detailed sections. This helps identify where success actions/key behaviour occurs and to define KPIs 3/9

We will then talk through practical examples of how data can be used to identify issues and opportunities. It will introduce our funnel benchmarks, the Merchandise report and Performance Diagnostic with a discussion on other actions driven by data 4/9

Once we have identified actions that can be taken, there will be a brainstorming session on what information everyone wants from GA. To challenge this list, it will then be prioritisied as to what is critical vs nice to have. 5/9

We will follow this with the @Ayima best practice recommendations for your GA set-up, both tracking and configuration. It is aimed at the critical & highly important level of set-up, not everything which might be nice to know. 6/9

With the data available, we go into the details of how to convert it into actionable insights. Where do you start and what to look at for different problems & issues. 7/9

The workshop is closing at this point, with a fairly clear line drawn from how retailers make money through actions to be taken, the information you need to collect in GA, how to do this and finally how to use the insights from this data to make your actions smarter. 8/9
