Regarding impetus & timing of decision to withdraw source in May 2017, President Trump intel disclosures minor compared to launch Special Counsel investigation, a very public inquiry where secrets were destined to spill. CIA made a good decision, look at all disclosures 2.5 yrs
Aside from sloppy White House OPSEC, we’ve had Congressmen leaking info regarding FISA. We’ve seen coveted American source UK revealed, top source in Russia exfiltrated, entire FBI investigative arm destroyed, partnerships ruined (Steele)
Imagine how difficult it is for FBI/CIA recruit a source today after all this damage, how can America ensure intel shared by partners will be protected? Hope there is a full accounting in the intel committees
