The charges did not specify which foreign entity or what type of information, but a source said he had amassed “terabytes of information,” including a list of undercover operatives, when he was arrested in Ottawa on Thursday.

Per the story 👆another source referred to the case as “serious spy s–t.”

There seems to be a lot of “serious spy s–t” breaking in the news these days...

Excellent journalist to follow on #CameronOrtis, @MercedesGlobal, says the US tipped Canada off about Ortis after flipping a witness who gave him up, and the investigation started thereafter.

That investigation is 6-7 months old, so we can look back that far for the source :)
@MercedesGlobal I have just reviewed the Trump-Russia timeline, as Ortis was involved in the Magnitsky Act in Canada as well as having obvious links to China. Of course, the source may well have been somebody not known to the public. At that time, however, known cooperating witnesses included...
