🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨THREAD🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
This was actually his original plan. He wanted to make it so you could no longer be born a slave or sell anyone as a slave. It was his belief that slavery would die out in a generation. However, he found something else.
1/
Lincoln realized over time and seeing the true affects of slavery that it could not persist. That it was dangerous and wrong. This was costing lives and in fact it led to the deadliest war in American history. He eventually gave the Emancipation Proclamation.
2/
Much of this had to do with living in a military hospital after the death of his son. He saw the true horrors of war and the consequences of slavery so after Antietam and the carnage brought to his front door, his position changed.
3/
His head was always in the right place, but his initial perspective was misaligned...much like @BetoORourke . Beto was against the continued sale of AR15s and AK47s, but he believed that you could keep those weapons of war. Until El Paso.
4/
When that came to his home, he was changed and he saw a different path. Beto believes that if we don’t do something right now that we are doomed as society, much like Lincoln saw the same with slavery if it persisted in America.
5/
Experience can change anyone as it did with Lincoln and as it does with Beto now. Lincoln brought the freeing of the slaves through the 13th Amendment and Beto WILL rid our streets of weapons of war.

It is in the shadow of history that the real heroes emerge.
